Why protect
our woodland ?
'Woodlands offer a unique and diverse habitat that thousands of species call home. Mammals, birds, invertebrates, plants, lichens, and fungi rely on a woodland’s diverse structure, from the tips of a tree’s flourishing canopy all the way down its vast network of underground roots. Trees not only support wildlife, they help sustain healthy ecosystems, maintain climate regulation, and protect soils - playing a major role in aiding nature’s recovery'

Our volunteers capture invaluable wildlife data
Our volunteers are working with GiGL (Green information Greater London) to provide wildlife data. Our Trail cameras have recorded badgers, hedgehogs, bats, small mammals, invertebrates, rare birds on the land or within 100 metres of the centre of the land. Our wildlife records provide evidence that will oblige developers to fulfil Barnet Local Development Plan Policy EC007 (Biodiversity) (adopted March 2025).
The woodland forms a precious home and green corridor for foraging. Why is this priceless biodiversity rich piece of land being sold by Barnet council for development? Any development here will result in a tragic Biodiversity net loss.
